Jan’s Story - Have You Got A Glass Eye, Miss?

Jan contracted a melanoma of the iris in her right eye ten years ago. After nine years of surgery and treatment, she made the mammoth decision to have her eye removed.

Jan talks about what she feared most at that time, and how she now copes as a teacher/librarian with personal questions from her students.

.. so I became one of those who have a “One-Eyed View of Life" ... everyone who sees it after hearing my story is amazed. I used to say “It’s a dollar to guess, if you get it right, I’ll return the $1 - I never ever carried out this little quiz but I always spoke the words. I could have made a lot of money!
